| Craps is a casino dice game that originates from America. It is associated with the game Hazard that was created during the 1913’s in New Orleans by a man named Bernard Mandeville. The game of Hazard is a complicating one to play, but even though that was the case, it was still very popular and many people played for money. After the game was created, it did not take a very long time for it to find its way into the American casinos. Many people liked to play the game at casinos but also privately with friends at home. Twenty years ago Craps was the most popular casino game around, but since then, many other games have been created and more modified, causing Craps to take the backseat in casino games. It is still played by many and is relatively popular, just not as much as it was before. The great thing about Craps is that it is not like many other casino games where the whole object of the game is just about winning. When playing Craps, and a player wins, all the other players that betted the same also win, so it’s not like other games where one person wins and walks away with all the money leaving the other players high and dry with nothing. Craps also portrays a lot of team work and constant communication. It is fun and allows participants to cheerfully communicate with the other players of the game. For some, this is what the game is about, the fun, communication and determination, but for others it’s just about winning. Many people that have not tried the game will not go to the lengths to try it because it seems too difficult to understand, but watching a few games and participating with a bit of assistance for a few games, should have you ready to play on your own sooner than you think. There are only two ways that the game can be played; it’s either Street Craps or its Bank Craps. Street Craps is normally the game you will find people playing at home or at a friends place as it is the least difficult version of the two. The betting is slightly easier and the bets have to be covered in order for the game to progress. Bank Craps is the type of Craps you are more likely to see being practiced at casinos. The betting with this version is more complicated and all the best are covered by the house, meaning that the participants are playing against the house. The game is played by the shooter (the person rolling the dice) making the first roll, in every game the first roll is called “the come out roll”. The shooter will automatically win if they throw a 7 or 11 on the dice, they get a point if they throw either 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 and they lose if they throw 2, 3 or 12, which is also known as Craps. If the shooter gets the point before seven is thrown they win. If they throw a seven before the point they will automatically lose and the person on their left becomes the shooter and is next to play. There are also websites that feature online Craps games for those that are unable to attend a game at the casino. Playing online has the same rules and game play as playing in a casino, but what you won’t get is the feel of the game, the fun and action that you would from being in a casino playing with others. |
