How to Play Table Poker

Table poker can refer to a couple of different things. First you have table poker online, but this is generally referred to as online poker. The table poker we will be talking about refers to the land casino poker or original definition of table poker. In a casino you have the choice to play machines or at a table. If you play machines you are playing against a computer, and while it is still called poker, we don’t tend to think of it as the real deal. Table poker refers to a poker came played on a felt table in certain areas of a casino.

Some casinos have separate rooms for their table poker while others have it mixed around slot machines. To help you understand how to play table poker we are not going to outline the game rules. In fact table poker can be any poker came that is recognised by casinos. The most obvious choices are usually 7 Card Stud, 5 Card Draw, Texas Holdem, and Omaha Poker. You may find a few variations to the games mentioned. Each of these games will have their own rules and strategies for playing, which is why we won’t get into them here.

Instead we will look at the poker etiquette for table poker. The etiquette rules are very important in how to play table poker in a casino. These rules could mean the difference of getting you thrown off the table or having a great game.

To play at the tables you need to act professionally and respectfully. The biggest thing you can do to get kicked off of a table is be rude or uncouth. You need to be patient and respectful to all players. You should never make string bets. In other words you shouldn’t say I call your “bet” and raise you another “extremely large bet.” For example say the last bet was 100 pounds and you raise by 200 pounds. That means the other player must place 200 pounds in the pot to keep in the game. You need to declare if you will call or raise. If you want to raise make it a respectful number and within the limits of the casino table.

You cannot splash the pot either. In other words you can’t go all in or just throw your money onto the table in a huge mess. You should name the amount you are betting and place it in the centre in a nice manner. Again if there are limits on the table you can’t go all in unless you are under that limit. You should also pay attention to your cards and the world around you. You are not supposed to share any cards until you have been called to do so. Furthermore you are not allowed to show your cards to just any one player at the table. You must show them to all players, even after the game is over. Don’t just throw your cards on the table either; place them down for all to see.
